Old Fashioned Custard Pie

Old-fashioned custard pie is a classic dessert that features a smooth and creamy custard filling baked in a flaky pie crust. This simple yet elegant pie is a comforting and nostalgic treat that is perfect for any occasion.

To make old-fashioned custard pie, start by preheating your oven and preparing a pie crust. You can use a store-bought crust or make your own from scratch. Place the pie crust in a pie dish and set it aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and nutmeg until well combined. Heat milk in a saucepan until it is warm but not boiling, then slowly pour it into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.

Pour the custard mixture into the pie crust and sprinkle the top with additional nutmeg for garnish. Carefully transfer the pie to the preheated oven and bake until the custard is set and the crust is golden brown, about 45-50 minutes.

Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely before serving. You can serve old-fashioned custard pie at room temperature or chilled, depending on your preference.

This pie is best enjoyed within a day or two of baking, as the crust may become soggy if stored for too long. Serve it as is or with a dollop of whipped cream on top for an extra special treat.
