Boba Pearls with Mangonada Recipe
This recipe combines the delightful chewiness of boba pearls with a refreshing and flavorful mango drink.

Ingredients:

For the Boba Pearls:

  • ¼ cup boba pearls (uncooked)
  • ¼ cup dark brown sugar (or muscovado sugar)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup hot water (around 190°F)

For the Mangonada:

  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (to taste)
  • 2 mint leaves, sliced
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 1 pound frozen mango
  • 1 tablespoon Tajín seasoning
  • ¼ cup chamoy

Instructions:

1. Cook the Boba Pearls:

Follow the instructions on the boba pearls package for cooking. Here’s a general guideline if specific instructions aren’t provided:
In a saucepan, heat water to a boil over high heat.
Add the boba pearls and stir them occasionally.
Once the boba floats to the top, reduce heat to medium and simmer with the lid on for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Turn off the heat and let the boba sit in the hot water for another 25 minutes.
Drain the cooked boba pearls.
2. Steep the Boba Pearls in Sugar:

In a heat-resistant bowl, combine the hot water (around 190°F), dark brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
Add the cooked boba pearls to the sugar mixture and stir well.
Let the boba pearls steep in the sugar mixture for 25 minutes, allowing the sugar to flavor the boba.
3. Make the Limeade:

In a separate cup or mixing bowl, combine the lime juice, sugar, cold water, and sliced mint leaves.
Use a muddler or spoon to gently press the mint leaves and release their flavor into the limeade mixture.
4. Blend the Mangonada:

In a blender, add the frozen mango chunks.
Strain the limeade mixture into the blender, removing most of the mint leaves if you prefer a smoother drink. (You can add the entire limeade mixture with the mint leaves if you don’t mind the texture.)
Blend the frozen mango and limeade together until smooth and well combined.
5. Assemble and Serve:

Take a cup and coat the inner rim with chamoy.
Run a lime wedge around the rim of the cup.
Dip the rim of the cup with lime juice into a plate with Tajín seasoning, creating a Tajín rim.
Add the cooked boba pearls to the cup.
Pour the blended mango and limeade (mangonada) over the boba pearls.
Top the drink with a dash of chamoy and Tajín seasoning for an extra tangy and spicy kick.
Enjoy your delicious boba pearls with mangonada
