KFC STYLE CHICKEN

KFC-style chicken is a beloved dish known for its crispy, flavorful coating and juicy meat. While the exact recipe is a closely guarded secret, you can create a similar version at home using a few key ingredients and techniques.

To make KFC-style chicken, start by marinating chicken pieces (such as drumsticks, thighs, or breast pieces) in a mixture of buttermilk, salt, and spices for several hours or overnight. This helps tenderize the chicken and infuse it with flavor.

In a separate bowl, combine flour with a blend of spices, including salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. This seasoned flour will be used to coat the chicken.

Dip each piece of chicken into the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess, then dip it back into the buttermilk mixture, and then again into the flour, ensuring each piece is evenly coated.

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to about 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the chicken pieces to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the chicken for about 15-20 minutes, or until it is golden brown and cooked through, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.

Remove the chicken from the oil and drain it on a wire rack or paper towels. Serve the KFC-style chicken hot, with your favorite sides such as mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and biscuits.

While homemade KFC-style chicken may not be exactly the same as the original, it is sure to be a delicious and satisfying meal that your family will love. Adjust the seasonings to suit your taste preferences, and enjoy!
