HOT SLOPPY JOE DIP 🌭

Sloppy Joe Dip is a ground beef mixture that is a thicker, cheesier version of a sloppy joe that is the perfect dip for toasted baguettes or bagel chips.

Sloppy Joes are one of my favorite sandwiches to make and eat! And, I usually end up dipping some chips in the leftover ground beef mixture that falls on my plate. So, it makes sense to make this . It is thicker than a traditional sloppy joe mix with added cheese. And, to be honest, it is delicious piled on a bun as well!

Ingredients
Forget the canned sloppy joe sauce. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make your own homemade sloppy joe mix with simple ingredients, but not simple on flavor.

Meat: I used ground beef in this dip. Ground turkey would also be a delicious option.

Slurry: To thicken the sloppy joe mixture, add a slurry of cornstarch and water. Using equal parts of each is the answer for thickening sauces and soups.

Cheese: Shredded cheddar cheese was my choice in this recipe. I think sharp cheddar or pepperjack would be excellent as well.

Toasted Baguettes: Make your own toasted baguettes to dip into the Sloppy Joe Dip. Or, dip some bagel chips or even Fritos corn chips (my favorite) into the mixture.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup diced jalapeno pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Tortilla chips or crusty bread, for serving

Instructions:

In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and jalapeno pepper to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened.

Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for a few minutes to let the flavors meld.
Preheat the broiler in your oven.
Transfer the sloppy joe mixture to an oven-safe dish. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Place the dish under the broiler until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve the hot sloppy joe dip with tortilla chips or crusty bread.

This dip brings the flavors of a classic sloppy joe in a cheesy and delicious form!
