Ingredients:

  • Bugles
  • White candy melts
  • Holiday colored sprinkles
  • Red and green candy-coated chocolates (M&M’s)

Instructions:

1. Melt Candy Melts:

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white candy melts according to the package directions. Usually, you can microwave them in short bursts, stirring in between until smooth.
2. Prepare Bugles:

Take each Bugle and dip the bottom (open, wider side) into the melted white chocolate, ensuring that the entire bottom is coated.

3. Apply Sprinkles:

Holding the dipped Bugle over a plate, immediately apply the holiday colored sprinkles to the dipped section. The white chocolate will act as an adhesive for the sprinkles.

4. Insert Candy-Coated Chocolates:

Quickly, while the white chocolate is still wet, push a red or green candy-coated chocolate (M&M’s) into the bottom of the dipped Bugle. This will act as the “pom-pom” of the elf hat.

5. Lay on Parchment Paper:

Carefully place the decorated Bugle onto a parchment paper-lined tray or plate, ensuring that the Bugle is lying down with the open side facing up. This allows the chocolate to harden without the hat losing its shape.
6. Repeat:

Repeat steps 2-5 to create as many elf hats as you desire. You can vary the colors and designs by using different colored sprinkles or candy-coated chocolates.
7. Allow to Harden:

Allow the elf hats to harden completely. This usually takes about 15-30 minutes, depending on the room temperature.
8. Serve and Enjoy:

Once the elf hats have hardened, carefully remove them from the parchment paper, and they are ready to be served! These festive treats make for a delightful addition to holiday gatherings or a fun activity for kids.
How to store Elf Hats Holiday Treats :
Storing Elf Hats Holiday Treats is important to maintain their freshness and festive appearance. Here’s how you can store them:

Short-Term Storage (Up to a Week):
Airtight Container:
Place the Elf Hats in an airtight container. This helps prevent them from becoming stale and keeps them fresh.
Room Temperature:
Store the airtight container at room temperature in a cool and dry place. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or excessive heat.
Avoid Moisture:
Ensure that the storage container is moisture-free, as moisture can affect the texture of the candy melts and the crispness of the Bugles.
Long-Term Storage (Freezing):
Flash Freeze:
If you plan to store Elf Hats for a longer period, consider flash freezing them first. Place the individually decorated hats on a tray and freeze until solid.
Transfer to Freezer Bag:
Once frozen, transfer the Elf Hats to a freezer-safe bag, removing as much air as possible before sealing. This step helps prevent freezer burn.
Label and Date:
Label the bag with the date of preparation to keep track of freshness. Elf Hats can be stored in the freezer for up to a few weeks.
Thawing:
When ready to enjoy, remove the Elf Hats from the freezer and let them thaw at room temperature. Avoid condensation by keeping them in the sealed bag until fully thawed.
General Tips:
Avoid Mixing Flavors: If you’re storing different flavored Elf Hats, consider storing them separately to maintain the distinct flavors.
Check for Freshness: Periodically check the stored Elf Hats for freshness. If needed, you can refresh them by placing a slice of bread in the container for a few hours to absorb any excess moisture.
By following these storage tips, you can ensure that your Elf Hats Holiday Treats stay delightful and ready to enchant your holiday celebrations whenever you’re ready to enjoy them.
