Pioneer Woman’s Apple Dumplings

Pioneer Woman’s Apple Dumplings are a delightful treat that captures the essence of homemade comfort food. This classic dessert showcases tender, juicy apples enveloped in a flaky,

buttery dumpling crust, all bathed in a luscious cinnamon-sugar sauce that enhances the flavors of the fruit.

The baking process infuses the dumplings with sweet aromas that fill the kitchen, making it hard to resist peeking in the oven.

Once they emerge,

the dumplings are golden and flaky on the outside, while the apples inside are tender and bursting with warm, spiced flavor.

Served warm, Pioneer Woman’s Apple Dumplings are often complemented by a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream,

adding a creamy contrast to the sweet and spiced filling. The combination of crisp, flaky pastry, tart apples,

and the rich, syrupy sauce creates a symphony of textures and flavors that is both comforting and indulgent.

This dish is perfect for autumn gatherings, holiday celebrations, or simply as a special treat on a cozy evening at home.

Whether enjoyed as a dessert after dinner or with a cup of coffee for a delightful afternoon snack,

Pioneer Woman’s Apple Dumplings are a timeless, unforgettable indulgence that exemplifies the joy of homemade cooking.

Ingredients:
  • 1 large apple {I used a Fuji- any apple will do, tart is better}
  • 1 can Pillsbury Crescent dough
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2/3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup or 6 oz. 7-Up or equivalent (half the can)

Directions:
1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8×8 baking dish.
2: Cut each apple into 8-10 wedges.
3: Slice the apple skin off as well and set aside.
4: Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles.
5: Roll each apple wedge in crescent roll dough starting at the wide end.
6: Pinch to seal and cover apple and place in the baking dish. {This is easier if you first pat the apple wedge dry, then wrap dough around it.}
7: Melt butter in a small saucepan and stir in the sugar and cinnamon. Heat, whisking to combine.
8: The mixture will slowly combine and thicken.
When it’s thickened, remove from heat and add vanilla.
9: Pour cinnamon mixture over the apple dumplings.
Pour soda over the dumplings. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown!!!
