Puff pastry cheese appetizer

Puff pastries with a jam and cream cheese filling are inspired by filled cream cheese danish pastries.

Danish are not the same as puff pastry because danish pastry includes yeast. Layered puff pastry, on the other hand, is made without yeast.

Technically, and as a reference, french croissants are danish because the buttery flaky pastry includes yeast.

Yet, you are free to use danish pastry to make these little pocket/triangle/turn-overs, instead of puff pastry.

I used puff pastry dough because it’s much more common in stores and the idea of this recipe is to reduce time spent in the kitchen by using store-bought pastry sheets.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 roll of puff pastry
  • 100g Tomme de Savoie
  • 100 g of Comté
  • 4 tbsp. tablespoons of thick crème fraîche
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 lettuce
  • Balsamic vinaigrette
  • Salt pepper

PREPARATION :

1.Preheat your oven to 210°C (Th.7).

2.Grate the Tomme de Savoie and Comté cheese into a bowl then add the crème fraîche. Mix well so that the cheese is well impregnated with cream. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper and mix again.

3.In a bowl, roughly beat the egg yolk.

4.On the work surface, spread the puff pastry. With a sharp knife, cut the dough into 4 equal triangles or 8 triangles for smaller bites.

5.Place a large spoonful of cheese filling in the middle of each triangle, then fold the triangles in half to close them, then seal the edges, forming a small bead with the dough and pressing well on the edges so that the stuffing does not escape. not when cooking.

6.Spread a little beaten egg yolk on each puff cheese appetizer using a brush.

7.Line a baking tray with parchment paper then place each puff cheese appetizer on the tray, spacing them well apart from each other.

8.Bake for 15 minutes.

9.If you have opted for large triangles of puff pastry, plate the puff pastry cheese appetizer with a bed of lettuce seasoned with balsamic vinaigrette sauce and serve immediately. For bites, simply prick with a toothpick.
