Fried Chicken is golden brown, juicy, and full of flavor. It’s one recipe you have to try in your
If you’re living in the South, then knowing how to make fried chicken is a must. I tried for the longest to avoid posting a fried chicken recipe on the blog because, in all honesty, I didn’t tend to get excited about fried chicken.

Until now. For years, when my Southern husband requested fried chicken, I’d just shrug and make him these air fried chicken wings covered in an Asian sauce instead.

But one day, I went ahead and made a traditional Southern fried chicken recipe right in my Air Fryer. It was phenomenal. I had to apologize for taking so long to make it and I had to apologize for hating on fried chicken all these years. Now it’s a part of our monthly meal rotation.

I like to cut a whole chicken up into separate portions, it’s economical and nothing goes to waste. I can make air fryer fried chicken thighs, air fryer fried chicken drumsticks, and also use the breast meat and wings too.

For chicken Marinate:

  • 12-16 thin sliced chicken breasts
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 3 cup buttermilk
  • 2 egg
  • 2 Tbs chilli garlic sauce
  • Oil for frying

For Gravy:
0.5 cup reserved oil from frying

  • 0.67 cup flour
  • 4 cup milk
  • Salt & pepper

In large bowl whisk together your flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, pepper and garlic powder. In another bowl whisk together buttermilk, egg and hot sauce. Dredge your chicken in the flour mixture then dip into the egg mixture than back into the flour mixture making sure to press down flour to get stuck on the steak real good.

Place chicken in pan/deep fryer and fry on each side 5-8 minutes or until golden brown, remove and drain on paper towel lined plate, repeat with all chicken. To make your gravy, in large pan add 0.5 cup ” of oil from cooking and heat on medium-high, stir in your flour until absorbed and cook for about 2-3 minutes. Slowly add in your milk whisking to blend
and heat until thickened then stir in salt and pepper to desired taste.

Pour gravy over individual chicken before serving.

Serve And Enjoy!!!
