  • – Salt and pepper to taste
  • – 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced into thin rounds
  • – 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • – 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • – 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • – 1 cup marinara sauce
  • – Fresh parsley or basil for garnish (optional)

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef or pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

3. Shape the meat mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

4. In a large skillet, heat some olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.

5. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and minced garlic. Sauté until softened and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.

6. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Top with half of the sautéed onions and garlic.

7. Arrange the cooked meatballs on top of the potatoes and onions.

8. Pour half of the marinara sauce over the meatballs.

9. Layer the remaining sliced potatoes on top of the meatballs, followed by the remaining sautéed onions and garlic.

10. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the potatoes.

11. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.

12. Remove the foil and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the potatoes.

13. Return the baking dish to the oven and bake, uncovered, for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

14. Remove the potatoes with meatballs and cheese from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

15. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil, if desired, and serve hot.
