French toast bake is a delightful and comforting breakfast casserole that combines the flavors of classic French toast with the convenience of a make-ahead dish.

To make French toast bake, start by cutting a loaf of French bread into cubes and placing them in a greased baking dish. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Pour this mixture over the bread cubes, making sure they are evenly coated. Cover the dish and refrigerate it for several hours or overnight, allowing the bread to absorb the custard mixture.

When you’re ready to bake, preheat your oven and drizzle melted butter over the top of the bread mixture. Bake the French toast until it is golden brown and set. Serve the French toast bake warm, topped with maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, or your favorite toppings.
